▏Where Champa Heritage Meets Coastal Living
Nha Trang has long been recognized as one of Vietnam’s most celebrated coastal destinations, a place where Champa heritage and Vietnamese culture continue to coexist and evolve. Situated along one of the city’s bustling streets, Mắm Restaurant embodies this cultural intersection while drawing inspiration from the region’s close relationship with the sea. Guests are welcomed by a warm atmosphere that evokes sunlight, ocean breezes, and the everyday character of local coastal life, creating an authentic connection between architecture, culture, and place.
▏Reinterpreting the Traditional Fish Sauce Village
Mắm Restaurant combines elements of traditional Champa art with a contemporary design language. The entrance is carefully composed through a sequence of openings and setbacks that gradually reveal the interior experience. A significant portion of the site is dedicated to recreating the atmosphere of a traditional fish sauce craft village, paying homage to one of the region’s most iconic cultural traditions. These landscaped spaces not only enrich the visitor experience but also create visual depth and anticipation, allowing diners to engage with the local narrative before entering the restaurant itself.
▏Highlight of the Entire Outdoor Space
The transition space is opened along a small alley, leading to an semi-opened space while appearing spacious along the length throughout the building. The highlight of the entire outdoor space is a hanging sculpture made of 179 recycled paddles. For private dining areas, we aim to create the differences between a traditional small house and a cozy family dining room.

▏A Spiritual-Cultural Symbol
All walls within the project are handcrafted by the craftsmen themselves, combining delicate Champa patterns, each pattern telling a story about the life and culture of these people. The facade is made from many old used tiles, shaped in a slanted direction inspired by the main lines of the Ponagar Tower relic – a spiritual-cultural symbol that always endures in the hearts of the people here.
